1890 Baseball Players’ League Documentation

In sport, one of the most amazing things we tend to see is how people are remembered in history. People are remembered for one single run, sprint, jump, kick, punch or throw. They go down in history as true legends of their sport – and it all comes down to one single activity. However, some of the most famous sporting moments captured in history have come from the swing of a pen, not a ball or any other object.

In fact, Memory Lane Inc. – a company based on sporting memorabilia – is auctioning off a true piece of history. They are producing an 1890 Baseball Players’ League documentation collection; each signed during the famous inaugural players’ revolt of December 17th, 1889. This was to do with the massive battle for players’ rights at the tail end of the century, and these papers are some of the most important papers to still exist within the history of baseball – and organized sport itself.

These collectibles hold some truly rare signs, including the signature of Tim Keefe, Buck Ewing and John Montgomery Ward. Fully authenticated by the Professional Sports Authenticator, these documents are now being viewed as one of the most impressive sporting finds in recent years.

They will be going on separate auctions starting December 22nd, 2017, closing January 13th, 2018. These truly special finds are bound to draw a huge amount of interest from all manner of people. From sporting historians looking to get a glimpse of some of the documents that changed baseball forever, to baseball fans looking to own a piece of game-changing memorabilia, these amazing BPL documents are going to fetch a massive fee for sure!

They hold immense historical significance, and we expect them to do extremely well due to this.

What’s The Deal With These Documents?

The group of special documents are known as The Northeast Find, and are part of history when it comes to the sport of baseball. Rescued from an old New York storage room, they were brought to Memory Lane by a consignor who was looking to find out their value.

It turns out that they are papers that show one of the most important if oft-forgotten moments in the history of associated sports. Teams banding together for better rights as players is not uncommon, but it was events like this that really helped to set that kind of sporting union into action.

There’s a series of signed documents from the people listed above, a signed document showing the sale of the Cincinnati National League to the Players’ League, and also Articles of Agreement, Constitutions and Bylaws that changed the entire face of the sport.

These signed documents also give the owner a fair glimpse of what has changed in the world of sports in the last decade or so. These will make it much easier for sports fans to be able to get a much clearer understanding of what sports players had once gone through to get the rights that come so naturally to them.
