Activision provided us a copy of the game so we decide to dive right into this popular game and see what all the hype is about.
Activision is back with a new addition to the Skylanders toy-to-life game series, introducing Superchargers. This is the fifth part of the series featuring voice over from some popular Hollywood characters including Josh Duhamel (High Volt), Britanny Snow (Splat) and Neal McDonough (Astroblast). The Skylanders Superchargers comes with some great improvements and updates, so if you haven’t played the previous installments, this one is a must-play.
Plot
The plot is almost the same as the previous games. The villain, Kaos, has again invaded Skyland and is now going to use his most powerful weapon, the Doomstation of Ultimate Doomstruction, which can eat up the whole sky. A special squad, Superchargers, is going to battle Kaos and save the Skyland.
Gameplay
The main focus of the game is ‘racing’ this time, but the concept of placing the toy on “Portal of Power” remains the same. The game now features a new range of ground, water and air vehicles, which can be upgraded with different powers and abilities later in the game. Superchargers features some amazing new characters including Donkey Kong and Hammer Slam Browser for Nintendo platforms and their own vehicles, but you can pair any character with the vehicle you like. However, if you find out the right combination of the character and its vehicle, you can unleash a “Supercharge” state. Race across the track overcoming the obstacles and find alternate routes to reach the finish line faster to complete the race! You can now compete in time trial mode, which features three-lap races.
What’s New?
You can either play single player adventure mode, split screen multiplayer (offline) or try the new online co-op mode which allows you to connect with your friends over the internet. Voice chat can be activated too for a more enhanced experience. Activision will also launch an expansion pack for the game, which will offer three special toys including a Supercharger with its signature vehicle and a villain trophy. For Nintendo 3DS and Wii owners, a dedicated Skylanders Superchargers racing game will be released too.
Verdict
The Skylanders Superchargers was released on September 20th in USA and is available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii. I have personally played all the parts of Skylanders series and would definitely recommend you to give it a try. This game is great for any gamer regardless of age!.
