Welcome back Captain!
Will Johnson was back in the starting lineup for the captain’s 1st appearance since breaking his leg back at the end of September, a year ago. The Timbers responded to their captain and coach, who desperately need 3 points for tonight’s match. It didn’t take long for the Timbers to give the Timber’s Army and the rest of the crowd a reason to cheer; in the 5th minute of the match, Fernandez played a cross to Maximiliano Urruti, who was able to easily finish it off and score.
With a well deserved and needed victory tonight, the Timbers moved ahead of the Colorado Rapids and into a tie with the Houston Dynamo for 8th place. Johnson walked off to a standing ovation for a hard played match. Up next for the Timbers on Saturday is a road match against the Colorado Rapids.
