Newly re-signed Seahawks center Lemuel Jeanpierre made it a habit to listen to gospel music before every football game he’s played since high school. But prior to a game in college at the University of South Carolina he switched it up and went with a heavy dose of hip-hop before kickoff, something Jeanpierre says he’ll never do again.

“I got so hyped,” Jeanpierre said. “But I was gassed by the end of the first quarter.”

Ever since, Jeanpierre has sworn to the soothing sounds of gospel before he hits the field. He’ll fire up Pandora radio and let it ride on one of his three favorite gospel artists – Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, or Micah Stampley.

“It calms me down,” Jeanpierre said. “Helps me focus.”
