SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – San Francisco scored six runs in the fourth inning and then held off a rally by No. 11 Oregon on Tuesday for an 8-4 non-conference win at Benedetti Diamond.

The first four Dons to bat in the fourth reached base with hits and came around to score to start the rally. USF (12-10) added two more runs to take a commanding 7-1 lead after the inning.

Freshman Austin Grebeck got Oregon (17-6) within four with a RBI single in the seventh that scored two thanks to a fielding error by centerfielder Bradley Zimmer that allowed Aaron Payne to score all the way from first on the hit.

San Francisco answered with a run in the seventh to give the Dons an 8-3 lead and then was able to hold on after Oregon brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth.

The Ducks cut the lead to 8-4 on a RBI double to centerfield by Tyler Baumgartner that scored Mark Karaviotis and moved Austin Grebeck to third. Mitchell Tolman loaded the bases to bring the tying run to the plate with one out, but Houston Hibberd fanned Kyle Garlick and pinch hitter J.B Bryant to end the game.

Porter Clayton (0-1) took the loss for Oregon allowing four runs on four hits in three innings. Sheldon Lee (2-0) got the win for USF, while Hibberd picked up his fourth save.

Grebeck went 2-for-5 to lead the Ducks on offense. Oregon and San Francisco meet again Wednesday at 2 p.m., before UO opens a three-game Pac-12 series at Stanford on Friday.
